From the Barn Doors | 2017
Dad standing in the barn doors, as his sheep and cattle lay down to rest for the night inside. Barn chores are apart of his morning and nightly routines every day.

From the Stable | 2017
My dad just outside the stable, right after the birth of a new baby calf. When I was younger, I would join my dad as he went out to do his barn chores. Through my photographic journey, I’m starting to revisit going out to the barn just like I did through my childhood. I remember my dad always wanting to show me the new life in the barn whether it be the new kittens, chicks, or lambs. It still remains the same to this day.

Dad with the Triplets | 2017
Pictured is my dad with three new born triplets in the dead of winter, just outside the barn. Our family farm is located in Southwestern Ontario’s “Snow Belt”, where we get hit heavy with winter weather and the sheep always seem to lamb on the coldest days of winter. You can tell by the red of my dad’s cheeks that this day was also a cold one, about -20 from what I remember.

Sugar Bush | 2017
During maple syrup season the sap flows the most on the warmest days. My dad enters the bush to collect the sap on this warm March day. In his retirement, he has started to produce his own maple syrup and spend more time working on our family's vegetable garden. Both of my parents, have taught me the importance of knowing where our food comes from and how it is produced.

Sap Collection From the Maples | 2017
My dad holds the pale of sap he has collected from a maple tree in the bush. At the bottom, are maple leaves that have sunk to the bottom of the pail.

Boiling the Sap | 2017
By dad finishes off the maple syrup, by boiling down the sap on the BBQ on the porch. He now has his own sugar shack where he does most of the boiling on an evaporator.

Flames From the Fire | 2017
During a camping trip with both of my parents this past summer, my dad blows on the fire so it doesn’t go out. Every summer since I can remember, I have gone camping with my family and from there, have continued to appreciate the outdoors.

From the Trailer Door | 2017
My dad looks out of our camp trailer door while on a camping trip to McGregor Point Provincial Park, in Port Elgin, Ontario. He opens the door to tell me to come inside as I had been out taking photos all night. My dad has been a major influence in my photographic career, as he is often excited to help me with projects and has always had a passion for photography too.

Church | 2017
The pews of this church are never filled on a Sunday, but you will almost always find my parents sitting in the same spot they do every single week. My dad grew up in this church and really never left. At both ends of these pews, you can find reminders of my grandparents and the trace of our family within this church. My Grandfather’s wood-carved cross hangs at the front and a stain glass window that was refurbished by my uncle after the passing of my grandmother, shines in back. What lies between, are the pews, the place where new generations of my family gather.

New Life | 2017
Much like my parents helped support each one of their kids, my dad supports the new born calf take its first steps. From family to farming, he pours his heart into every little thing he does and for that, I am forever grateful.
